Teams and studios we work with regularly

Most of our projects start with a recommendation. Print shops, photographers, copywriters and small agencies send us clients when the brief needs a stronger visual direction, and we do the same when a job goes beyond our own studio.

Print production

Taller Gráfico Sur

Handles our packaging proofs and large-format printing. They catch paper and ink issues before we ever send a file to a client.

Editorial photography

Estudio Lumen

A three-person photo studio we bring in for campaign shoots and portrait work. They understand art direction notes without over-explaining.

Web development

Nodo Digital

Builds the sites we design. They handle responsive layouts and content systems while we keep an eye on typography and spacing.

Copywriting

Palabra Justa

Writes the voice and tone guides that sit alongside our visual identities, so the brand sounds as considered as it looks.

"They came recommended by our printer, which says a lot. The team took a vague idea about a rebrand and turned it into something our customers actually comment on."

Marcela R.

Owner, bakery in Barrio Norte

"We sent them a festival project with a tight deadline. They structured the whole visual system in two weeks and the signage looked sharp across every format."

Diego F.

Producer, independent music events

"What stood out was the process documentation. They showed us the rejected options and explained why the final palette worked better for print."

Lucía M.

Editor, independent publishing house

The people behind the projects

Learnt Group is a small studio, and that is exactly how we like it. The same three or four people who sit in on the first brief are the ones who retouch the final files before delivery. No handoffs to strangers, no account managers translating your feedback. Here is who you will actually work with.

Mariana Costa

Art Director & Founder

Mariana started the studio after eight years directing photo shoots and brand systems for food and beverage clients. She still sketches the first concepts for every project and leads the client presentations. Her eye is on the big picture, but she will also notice when a logo mark is two pixels off.

Tomás Herrera

Graphic Designer

Tomás handles the typography, layout systems and the final production files. He has a background in editorial design, which means he thinks in grids and margins before anything else. If a packaging dieline needs to be adjusted for a new supplier, he is the one who makes it work.

Lucía Fernández

Photographer & Retoucher

Lucía shoots the editorial photography and the product images you see across our case studies. She works with natural light and a minimal set, so the photos feel honest rather than overproduced. Her retouching is restrained: skin keeps its texture, packaging keeps its true color.

Diego Salas

Motion & Digital Designer

Diego builds the digital pieces: social media templates, animated stories and simple website banners. He works closely with Tomás to make sure the motion language matches the static identity. He is also the person who prepares files for developers when a project needs a landing page.

Sofía Méndez

Production Coordinator

Sofía keeps the studio running. She manages timelines, talks to printers and suppliers, and makes sure every file is delivered in the right format on the agreed date. She is the person who answers your email within a few hours and reminds the team about deadlines before they become a problem.

Regular collaborators

Illustrators & Copywriters

Depending on the project, we bring in illustrators and copywriters we have worked with for years. They are not anonymous freelancers pulled from a database. We know their style, their pace and how they communicate. When a project needs a custom illustration or a tone of voice guide, we introduce them early in the process.

How we work together

One point of contact

You talk to the person doing the work, not a middleman. If you email about a project, the designer answers. If it is about a print deadline, Sofía replies. No duplicated questions, no lost context.

Small teams, full attention

We take on a limited number of projects each month. That means your brand is not competing with ten other clients for our attention. When we commit to a deadline, we meet it.

Process over guesswork

Every project follows the same structure: brief, references, sketches, a design proposal and then revisions. You see the reasoning behind each decision, not just the final pretty picture.

How the studio grew into what it is today

Learnt Group started as a two-person operation working from a shared desk. Over the years, it became a small team with a clear point of view about visual work. This is the path we took, the decisions that shaped the studio, and the results that still inform how we work.

2016 - The first brief

A single identity project for a neighborhood bakery

The first real commission was a logo and packaging system for a small bakery. We had no portfolio to show, so we worked on trust and delivered more than the client asked for. That project set the tone for how we approach every brief since: listen first, then design.

2019 - Building a team

Adding photography and editorial skills in-house

We kept outsourcing photography until a client needed a full campaign in under three weeks. That pushed us to bring a photographer and an editor into the core team. Now art direction and image production happen under one roof, which shortened timelines and improved consistency.

2022 - A clearer focus

Choosing local brands over large-scale accounts

After a few years of taking every project that came in, we realized the work we cared most about was for independent businesses and artists. We started turning down bigger accounts that didn't fit that focus. The result was a tighter portfolio and clients who came back with repeat work.

A decision that changed our workflow

In 2020, we started documenting every project from the first sketch to the final file. What began as a habit for internal reference became a standard part of our delivery. Clients now receive a short case study with their files, which helps them understand the reasoning behind each choice and reuse the system later.

Results we still measure ourselves by

A few projects stand out not because they were the biggest, but because they showed us what worked. A rebrand that increased foot traffic for a local café, an editorial system that saved a publisher weeks of layout time, and a festival identity that held together across dozens of formats. These are the benchmarks we return to when starting something new.

A studio built around the work behind the work

Learnt Group started with a simple observation: most portfolios show only the polished final image. The briefs, the discarded directions, the typographic dead ends, the client conversations that shaped a palette, none of that ever makes it into the presentation. We wanted a space where that process is visible, because the process is where the real decisions happen.

This site exists to document how we think about visual identity, editorial photography, and digital pieces for local brands, artists, and small businesses. It is a working archive as much as a portfolio, and it is written for people who are about to commission design and want to understand what they are actually paying for.

Honest documentation

Every featured project includes the initial brief, reference points, and the reasoning behind key choices. You see what changed between the first proposal and the final delivery, and why it changed.

Small-team collaboration

We work with a small network of photographers, illustrators, and motion designers. The profiles section introduces the people who actually touch your project, not just the studio name.

Practical expectations

The blog covers tools, workflows, and the common mistakes clients make when ordering design. The goal is fewer surprises on both sides of the table.

Local context first

Most of our work serves brands, artists, and small companies in the region. We design for real storefronts, real print runs, and real social feeds, not for awards juries.

The expected effect for a client is straightforward: you leave the process with a visual system that works across packaging, signage, social media, and print, plus the confidence to apply it after we hand over the files. We do not promise to reinvent your business. We promise to listen carefully, show our work, and deliver something that holds up in daily use.
